Restoration Interior Design is a residential design firm that designs for both new homes and old homes needing restoration. We will space plan a room or entire house. Our skills include designing window treatments, wall treatments, lighting plans and selection of flooring, tile, fabrics, furniture, lamps, art, accessories and bedding.

Besides space planning, we create interior and exterior lighting and electrical plans, architectural detail drawings, scale elevation and plan drawings of tile, built-ins or stand alone furniture. We create finish schedules for the entire house including paint, wall and ceiling selections with cabinetry and molding details. We advise you on opening walls for more natural light and better traffic flow.

Our Designers

Elaine Buderer – CID, Owner
Elaine began her career as an interior designer in 1981, working for a company that specialized in model home design. That position allowed her to combine real-life experience with her studies in interior design at the Maryland Institute College of Art and her degree in home economics and art from West Virginia Wesleyan College. In 1997, she founded Restoration Interior Design. It provides an array of services, including residential interior design, model home design, and the restoration and renovation of older homes. It also has an extensive network of skilled artisans and contractors, who can take clients’ ideas and designs and make them a reality.

Bennett Morais Cummings
After graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park with a BA in Fine Arts, Bennett earned a Certificate of Interior Design from the Community College of Baltimore County. Her expertise includes designing residential, commercial and model home interiors. Bennett designs and consults with clients on space planning, selecting interior finishes and introducing innovative approaches to clients’ homes or offices.

Trusted Design Experience

Use our direction and expertise to create updated kitchens and baths with more efficiency, comfort and style. If the house is old, we will preserve original elements of the architecture. If you want to change the use of a room, let us assist you in how to make a living room into a study or enclose a porch into an all-weather room.

We will help design your entire home or work with you for just one to two hours to select paints, discuss furnishing ideas or answer your list of questions. You may simply want us to suggest a design and then you can take it from there. We know where to find the products or services that will make your project everything you want it to be. Some of our clients say the best part is getting help with choices when they feel overwhelmed.

Model Home Merchandising

We also specialize in merchandising model homes for builders. We know how to appeal to a specified buyer and do it within a budget and limited time frame. Our models are unique, one of a kind, with original art and accessories. Furniture is chosen not only for style but to define the space and traffic flow. Our designs create focus on the home’s best features.
